For many people, cleaning is a therapeutic task while also being a necessary household chore. Keeping our homes clean is important not just for our comfort but also to help prevent the spread of bacteria that can make us sick. In 2020, we have become accustomed to the constant advice from health officials about thorough surface cleaning in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. If they’re old enough, show them how to wash their own clothes in the washing machine; it’s an essential life skill and will go towards teaching them responsibility. Another key thing to teach the kids is to remove, wash and replace their bedsheets on a regular basis. Make things as fun as you can possibly make them with cleaning chores by assigning them tasks and rewarding them in some small way.
