For many people, cleaning is a therapeutic task while also being a necessary household chore. Keeping our homes clean is important not just for our comfort but also to help prevent the spread of bacteria that can make us sick. Furthermore, a clean and uncluttered home helps towards a more focused mind and headspace. In 2020, we have become accustomed to the constant advice from health officials about thorough surface cleaning in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, maintaining a good cleaning regime has never been so important. Keeping a home clean however is not an easy feat and one that requires input and effort from all household members or else it can become overwhelming. If one is from a big family that resides in a large house, it’s really not practical or fair for one person to have to clean and tidy the entire house! It’s important to get the whole family involved (age dependant of course!).
Chores Rota
Getting the kids involved in the cleaning rota as part of their chores is the best way to free up your time for the heavier cleaning tasks. Train them early! Obviously they should be well able to keep their own rooms clean and tidy. Don’t assume they know how to do things that you find simple and straightforward such as folding their clean clothes the right way; instead, show them how you do it themselves or show them one of the many YouTube videos available online that will explain the task. Place laundry bins in each of their rooms and give them an assigned day to bring it to the washing machine for it to be washed. If they’re old enough, show them how to wash their own clothes in the washing machine; it’s an essential life skill and will go towards teaching them responsibility. Another key thing to teach the kids is to remove, wash and replace their bedsheets on a regular basis. Make things as fun as you can possibly make them with cleaning chores by assigning them tasks and rewarding them in some small way.
Using Apps to Help with Household Cleaning
We’ve seen an explosion in the popularity of cleaning “hacks” and cleaning-dedicated pages on Instagram and Pinterest with literally millions of followers involved and engaged. The rise in popularity of phone and tablet apps hasn’t skipped the household cleaning niche either and with the quality and functionality of these apps rising constantly, there’s never been a better time to enlist the “support” of an app with your cleaning responsibilities. While the apps won’t necessarily do the work for you, they may make it a little easier to bear! The team from Senator Windows has put together this infographic below that outlines a number of household cleaning apps that can assist in your mission to keep your home clean. The infographic outlines the cost (if any), the platform they’re available on, the review score associated and why you should download.
